Don't expect anything; you'll be less disappointed that way.
I like art and bones. Currently watching SNK and Hannibal.

"we almost dated" is such a weird relationship to have with someone

Plus the sequel “we never got closure”

And then the side adaptation “as a result I have a weird crush that never died”

Belle featurette from Fox Searchlight Pictures

AHH! CanNOT wait for this to come out!!

i love the fact that a black woman directed this

Black woman director. Black woman writer. Black woman lead. Love this.

Everybody get the fuck out there and watch it. Take a friend. Take two friends. Go twice.

Remember:

Hollywood has a vested interest in watching this film fail.

Hollywood does not like leads who are not white men.

Hollywood tolerates writers who are not men, but not often.

Hollywood doesn’t like directors who aren’t white men, either, unless they’re Alfonso Cuaron, who is still a man.

Hollywood likes to prove that these are films that “people”—that means you, that means me—will not watch, so they can go back to making movies where the men are white and the women are props.

Make this film explode. Make it impossible to ignore. See it opening weekend and tell everyone you meet how it spoke to you and why.

Look for online reviews and leave comments. If your local newspaper has no critic section, write a letter to the editor. Tell a friend. Tell two friends. Tell your mother’s friends who like romcoms.

You can do something just by spending ten bucks and opening your mouth about it.

What are you doing? You’re encouraging visibility. You’re encouraging diversity. You’re encouraging women in an industry that’s very Good Ole Boys Club.

And also, you get to see what looks like it’s going to be one damned fine movie.

A psychologist at a girl’s college asked the members of his class to compliment any girl wearing red. Within a week the cafeteria was a blaze of red. None of the girls were aware of being influenced, although they did notice that the atmosphere was more friendly. A class at the University of Minnesota is reported to have conditioned their psychology professor a week after he told them about learning without awareness. Every time he moved toward the right side of the room, they paid more attention and laughed more uproariously at his jokes, until apparently they were able to condition him right out the door.

On Sep 13, 1944, a princess from India lay dead at Dachau concentration camp. She had been tortured by the Nazis, then shot in the head. Her name was Noor Inayat Khan. The Germans knew her only as Nora Baker, a British spy who had gone into occupied France using the code name Madeline. She carried her transmitter from safe house to safe house with the Gestapo trailing her, providing communications for her Resistance unit.

Oh my God, yes. Let’s talk about Noor Inayat Khan.
Wireless operators in France had a life expectancy of six weeks. Noor was actively transmitting for over three times as long.
While she was in France, every other wireless operator in her network was slowly picked off until she was the last radio link between London and Paris. It was “the most dangerous and important post in France”.
She was offered a way back to Britain and refused.
In fact, in her transmissions to London, she once said that she was having the time of her life, and thanked them for giving her the opportunity to do this.
She was captured by the Gestapo, but never gave up: she made three attempt escapes. One involved asking to take a bath, insisting on being allowed to close the door to preserve her modesty, and then clambering onto the roof of the Gestapo HQ in Paris.
Her last word before being shot was, “Liberté!”

The term BAMF was coined for such persons.
